The Artist Tree West Hollywood Dispensary had the honor of hosting half of the legendary dynamic stoner duo – Tommy Chong! After having Cheech Marin on October 15th, hosting Tommy Chong in-store was an absolute delight.

Friday afternoon on the 5th of November, Tommy Chong and crew arrived at The Artist Tree West Hollywood to promote his cannabis line, “Tommy Chong’s Cannabis”, and meet with fans, as well as pose for photos & sign autographs. Many fans were returning after meeting Cheech Marin a couple of weeks prior, bringing items signed by Cheech to round out with Tommy’s signature.

Tommy Chong’s reputation as The Sweetheart of Cannabis proved true, as he was ecstatic to be at The Artist Tree Dispensary meeting like-minded fans who share his passion for cannabis!

Tommy Chong doesn’t just share The Artist Tree’s love of cannabis, he’s also an artist! Many fans can recall the epic guitar solo from Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie, but not everyone may know Tommy Chong’s life as a musician predates his cannabis iconography.

In the early 1960s, Tommy Chong was a founding member in the Canada-based soul band, Bobby Taylor and The Vancouvers, where Tommy played guitar. Their debut single called, “Does Your Mama Know About Me” peaked all the way up at 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Jackson 5 even opened for the Vancouvers while they were on tour and Tommy referred to young Michael Jackson as the “cute little guy”.

Tommy Chong is also the oldest contestant to make it to the semi-finals of Dancing with the Stars. Being 76 years old at the time in 2014, Tommy’s dancing prowess speaks to the benefits of a lifetime of cannabis use.
